    You Are Magic is an upbeat collection of songs designed to open a spiritual dialogue for young children and families. What are the values we choose to live by, and how do we express them? Who are we, and why are we here? How do we connect with others? Where does creativity come from? How do we connect to the natural world? What can we do to make the world a better place?

    This album is a concept album. The over-arching theme is that our own creative energy and momentum, which comes to us (especially children) naturally, is reflective of the creative energy and momentum of the universe. Everything we do reflects how we are a part of something bigger, and the more we are authentic in our self-expression, the more we reflect the true nature of who we are and why we are here. I really felt like kids and families needed to know this - that creativity, awareness, connectedness, and empathy are the sources of becoming and growing into who you really can be in the world. I envision the album as a tree, starting with the Roots & Branches, and reaching all the way through the Leaves & Sky.

We never know when an experience is going to open us up in a new way, or something that seems difficult can actually be just the thing we need to move us in the right direction. I look at these moments as gifts - they are surprising, they are often “wrapped” in something that doesn’t look like a gift at all, but we just have to be open to recognizing these gifts when they appear in our lives.
